A wonderful idea and product, designed by an idiot! Thankfully, there's a revised product which finally addresses the issues.,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I wanted to have a wireless flash system but which didn't cost thousands. I shoot Canon, professionally. After careful consideration I bought 3 YN560-III flashes and these two triggers. Some of the Yongnuo more complex triggers have a locking wheel which affixes them firmly into any hot-shoe on top of a camera (or any other off camera configuration). These triggers DO NOT HAVE THAT! I could not believe my eyes when I had my chance to test them! Idiotic! I normally have an on camera flash and 2-3 off camera flashes on stands, triggered remotely (they're all YN560-III flashes and they've been great!). The flash that sits into one of these triggers (trigger sitting into the camera's hot shoe) creates enough momentum while shooting that makes the entire rig (trigger and flash) come out of the camera's hot shoe and hitting the photographer on the face! Unreal! Also, the on/off button cannot be accessed when the flash is on top (need to remove the flash and toggle on and off, when needed). Another idiocy!
Because of the lack of a locking mechanism, the contacts are spotty therefore lots of misfires. I had to literally wrap my all 5 fingers around the top of the camera and around the triggering rig to be able to shoot the one wedding I wanted to use these for. It was a painful experience and looked weird but I pulled it off!
When it works with the aforementioned Yongnuo wireless built-in flashes, the system is a dream to work with but the issues are far to many and too important to make this a "good and usable" product.
The solution is getting THE REVISED NEW VERSION of these triggers --Yongnuo RF-603C II. These new triggers are a DREAM to use and totally re-designed. They're essentially the same trigger (same specs) but re-designed to be perfect. Everything works. The issue is that Yongnuo (and suppliers) have tons of the plagued, previous version to sell so it's rather "difficult" to find the new version. It's funny actually. But it can be had by searching on Amazon and elsewhere.
The new triggers have a locking mechanism and the on/off TX/RX toggle button on the side, easily accessed when the flash is attached. They are perfect! Get them --Yongnuo RF-603C II.
