Left Wing Paranoid Fantasy,
This review is from: Strong at the Break: A Caitlin Strong Novel (Caitlin Strong Novels) (Hardcover)
Like a previous reviewer I enjoyed Land's early novels. Then the Blaine McCracken series caused me to write him off. But with the first Caitlin Strong book my interest was rekindled. Alas, this time out the author has chosen to waste his fine characters on a diatribe against the Tea Party, Dick Cheney, Halliburton and other bogeymen of the left. He pooh poohs Islamist terrorists while portraying white supremacist militias as the greatest danger facing our nation. Insulting approximately half of his potential American audience by tying mainstream conservatives to the KKK, child-raping cults, and those who lust for the violent overthrow of the government is no way to garner a wide audience. I am surprised this book is not dedicated to Keith Olbermann. The more rabid lefties will nod their heads all through this. The rest of us will bemoan yet another talented author who could not resist giving free rein to his political bigotry. An ugly venting not worth a discerning readers time.
