The controls while in the air are pretty good and solid. On the ground it gets messy and annoying. It's something that you can overcome, though and should not stop you from playing this amazing game. You also have a lot of customization options so eventually you'll get it to be more bearable once you get used to how the game works.

It has the highest replay value of any 3DS game I've played yet. There's a lot of modes to play, lots and LOTS of stuff to collect. There's attention to detail in this game.

In short, it's a VERY solid game. Sure, the controls are irritating, especially considering that you should be able to use the Circle Pad Pro for it PROPERLY, but once you get over that hangup, there's an awesome game to explore.

Top 5 3DS game of all time and that is despite the control issue.

Nice review, though 2 things:
1. I've told this to many people already, but I'll say it again. The game was designed around being able to point and shoot, being able to use the touchscreen to liberally aim and fire at will. I've thought about using the circle pad pro in the manner people say, but it just didn't seem as right to me--I don't think this game would've been as good with dual circle pad controls vs. circle pad and touch screen.

2. What are your other top 4 3DS games?

i agree. im left handed and at first using the pen as aiming in my right hand was annoying but once you master it you are unbeatable but you MUST use that stand that comes with the game. That stand was ingenious and i never play without it. Makes the controls easier and no hand cramps also the stand gives you the perfect angle for the 3d and depth for the game!

oh for sure the stand is nice! but from my experience, stand-less gameplay isn't actually so bad. If you rest it on your knee or something, or if you only do it in 15 minute increments (then shake your hand off for a few seconds), you're perfectly fine. i use the stand at my house, but i'm totally able to do it on a train ride or something without any pains

Get the DS thumb stylus from Nintendo's online store, and all of the controls instantly disappear- you get the accuracy of the touch screen, but can also grip the system with both hands. That's the only way I ever play the game, and it's perfect!

Resident Evil Revelations and Super Mario 3D land are easily in that top 4. I think Zelda is great just because it's zelda, and if you've never played MGS3, the 3d version is very good.

Everett, have you beaten the last level in Super Mario 3D Land yet? I just did this weekend after months of trying...it's so tough yet so fulfilling when you realize that you've acquired the skill!
