NOT a greatest hits package,
This review is from: #1's (Audio CD)
Well, that's what Mariah said in protest to the title. And unfortunately, I'm inclined to agree. Her albums have always been laden with filler and her singles were admittedly catchy and great. Still, the point is that her best songs so far have been the non-singles. Which is a pity, becuase this collection shows only how radio-friendly Mariah is. From the melodramatic "I Don't Wanna Cry", to the 'cute' "Emotions" and bouncy "Honey" Mariah shows how she's developed into a more mature artist. Sadly, this collection isn't a full projection of her best songs. The new songs are fine but except for the cool and amazing 90s remake of "I Still Believe", the other songs aren't particularly memorable perhaps hinting that she had better think fast before running out of ideas. Ultimately, it would be perfect for casual listeners who would want a complete sum up of her collection of "hits" but have no idea what they're missing out on. But sadly, this collection doesn't give her serious fans anything new. Which basically means they're better of buying the single "I Still Believe" because we've already worn out every hit in this collection.
