Exactly what it says it is,
This review is from: 4 Film Favorites: The Matrix Collection (The Matrix / The Matrix Reloaded / The Matrix Revolutions / The Animatrix) (DVD)
There's no reason to spend more money on the Matrix Box Set unless you want all of the additional footage from behind the scenes ETC. This has ONLY the movies and that was good enough for me. In my opinion though, only the first Matrix is worth watching more than once. The 2nd and 3rd one are flashy with effects but the stories suck. There were no problems with the discs. Buy this if you just want the movies!

Agreed. The Matrix Reloaded (the 2nd movie) is pure crap and one of the worst movies i've ever seen. The Matrix Revolutions is better, but still a terrible move. The only short from The Animatrix i've seen is the one they showed in theatres (Final Flight of the Osiris), so I cant' comment on the others. The first movie was good. I do wish I could see the extras, but not enough to want to spend an extra $30 (the "Ultimate Matrix Collection" is $40) since I would really only watch the extras 1 time while I would watch the movie many times.

I use to love the first two and hated the third when I was much younger. But have learned why the sequels don't exactly live up to the original. The sequel in my opinion is not that bad. Where as the original has a Story that's constantly moving forward, Reloaded doesn't. There's a bit of story in the beginning, the middle, and end but the rest of it is like you said flashy with special effects. The third is pure flashiness with very little story. So I can understand why a lot of people weren't fond of them. But I do love the first two more than the third.
