2.0 out of 5 stars I could Care Less about this album., February 21, 2012
This review is from: Careless World: Rise of the Last King (Audio CD)
Call me a hater if you want, but this album is exactly whats wrong with Hip Hop today. I've never liked Tyga or the YMCMB camp (minus Drake), but I actually tried to listen to this album and it was a complete waste of my time. Tyga has been rapping since 2008 and first came out with a song called "Cocoanut Juice" and while not a pure hip hop song, that song was a lot more interesting than what Tyga has been coming out with the past 4 years. Careless World: Rise of the Last King suffers from pop garbage I hate hearing and it only appeals to the young and ignorant. All I've heard from Tyga throughout the entire album is pointless vulgarity about how much money he has, the women he can get, and the same chauvanistic bragging YMCMB is famous for. Not the mention the album cover and title share a slight resemblence to J. COLE's debut "Cole World: The Sideline Story" even his positioning on the album cover is similar to J. Cole's album cover. Wheres the originality Tyga?..........

Once I seen the tracklisting and guest spots I was surprised because I saw a Hip Hop Legend (Nas) and my current favorite (J. Cole). Two profiecient MC's on an album with no substance so how is that gonna work out? The tracks "Show It" and "Kings & Queens" actually pushed Tyga to rap better, but ultimately becomes a failure once Nas and J. Cole start rapping and makes it easier for listeners to distinguish between a good MC (Nas, J. Cole) and a bad rapper (Tyga). The content of the album is my main problem, I just don't get what Tyga is trying to convince to his listeners, he's just not an interesting person to listen to, and his storytelling is very limited, just throwing out crappy metaphors that don't connect with the songs subject matter (has Lil Wayne written all over it). When Tyga has songs like "Rack City", "Potty Mouth", "For The Fame", and "Mu********* Up", anything that Tyga says on any other song no longer becomes sincere nor convincing emotionally from there on. He tries to be "deep" on typical songs like "Far Away" & "Black Crowns", but it just doesn't connect with the type of persona Tyga has created for himself.

The only thing that saves this album from 1 star is the productions. While Tyga's lyrics are garbage to say the least, the beats are a saving grace for me, some of these beats are actually some of the best I've heard in 2012 thus far. Tyga's hooks are actually the best things on this damn album, "Love Game" has a nice Drake-esque sound, "Lay You Down" again crappy rapping lyrics, but the sound is nice...again beats on "Black Crowns" and "Careless World" were crafted very well, but could've landed with a better MC, Tyga just does not know how to flow on songs. The only song I actually found barable is the song "Light Dreams" feat. Marsha Ambrosius which is the LAST SONG on Careless World, this song was the first time I felt real emotions from Tyga's voice, not to mention the dark yet soulful productions. Other than that, this album is overrated and after a couple of months from now, it is going to be forgotten. Like I said before, Tyga is young so he is going to make music for young people that are interested in club songs and ignorant lyrics to make people feel like they're the s***. While that may be cool for some, the grown people who actually know what real music is will just laugh at Tyga's music. Tyga needs to grow up as a person and find his own sound instead of following the formula that is YMCMB, that is the only way he can become a better artist, because there is no way he can ever dream of getting a grammy with this type of music.

That is strictly your opinion bro..But I grew up on Nas, Mos Def and MF Doom so I know what REAL lyricism is and I am also an advent listener of classical music so I also know what REAL Music is about.

Whatever I said in my review is strictly my opinion and it is for the people that are unbiased towards Tyga.

I am completely unbiased towards Tyga, I only bought the album because it was literally the first album all year to have somewhat caught my attention, and I was expecting the worst, like I do for every YMCMB album (With the exception of Drake). But I can admit when an artist surprises me, unlike M-20??? What kind of name is that anyway??? Especially for someone who claims to be "mature" and to listen to classical music, but your name is M-20??? What does that even mean, is that your x-box gamertag or something Mr. Mature??? I too like Nas, and Mos Def both of which are great lyricists (MF Doom is completely irrelevant and shouldnt even be mentioned here), so I respect your opinion there, but to say Tyga doesn't have at least good lyrics is pretty ridiculous and actually proves how IGNORANT you are M-20 (im going to chuckle everytime i say that), because although Tyga isn't the BEST lyricist Ive ever heard, he's far from the worst, and actually he surprised me a lot with this album especially considering he's only 22. The production was pretty good, and Tyga much to my surprise actually excelled lyrically on this album...Don't listen to this rambling white boy, who's obviously out of touch with the times and thinks all rap needs to sound the same as it did in the early 90's...M-20 is obviously a hater, and his opinion is actually extremely biased and I doubt he even bought the album... I mean he say's right in the opening lines of his review that he's never liked Tyga or YMCMB so why would he buy it???? He's probably to busy playing Pokemon or watching Friends With Benefits HATER!!!

Haha wow, well aren't you the observant one.
I'm not gonna argue with you, because its obvious you like the album.
How about next time instead of commenting how "immature" my account name is, why don't you add viable insight and concrete examples of why this album is good. I mean you haven't even explained to me how Tyga is a good lyricist? Geeeeez your just another racist punk who doesn't know how to validate a point lol

Im white lol but I could tell just by the artist's you listed as your favorites that you have the typical "Whiteboy" taste when it comes to hip hop and it didn't help that you gave a Pokemon game and the movie Friends With Benefits 5 star ratings on here, which I don't know many "Mature" grown ass men that would even play or watch those movies/games...but yet thats what you claim to be... and Careless World is decent, it's not the best album, but it's a hell of a lot better than a 2 star effort, I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 if you want my rating...but to say Tyga is a bad lyricist is just ignorant...Souljaboy, OJ Da Juiceman, Waka and Gucci are BAD lyricists, I was merely pointing out that you are obviously hating just to hate, and really don't know what your talking mean to tell me Tyga's lyrics on Black Crowns or Careless World were poorly written??? I don't think so...try again buddy

very solid review, telling like it is, not being a hater. Not every album deserves 5 stars and this is a great review with great reasonings for the things that this listener says.

haha I like that you viewed some of my old reviews as well.
Not that its any of your business but I am actually under 21 years old and if you have bothered to look at my reviews you would have noticed that some of them are old, in other words i was still in high school...Maturity has nothing to do with age, the fact that your assuming I am a "grown ass man" goes to show your maturity level as well...

And as far as those 2 tracks you have just mentioned, Black Crowns and Careless World, I mentioned they were crafted well in my review but the problem with Tyga is his inconsistant lyricism..Tygas lyrics are not enough to uphold an entire album, he may have one or two good songs with good lyrics here and there on certain songs, but he cannot consistantly rap on a high level on an entire album.. and that is why Tyga is a poor MC in my opinion, at the end of the day this album as a WHOLE is below average. Which is why i only give it 2 freakin stars.

J. Cole is a good producer but he sucks at rapping, get a clue, AND NEVER GROUP HIM WITH NAS, FOOL!

MF DOOM? What are you 15? Fans like you are what's wrong with hip-hop. Tyga's album was surprisingly solid, and I am not even a fan, just enjoyed the album.

You are way off, being an 'elite' underground hip-hop fan ended like 5 years ago. Move along bro.
