Coby Kyros 1042-8,
This review is from: Coby Kyros 10.1-Inch Android 4.0 8 GB 16:9 Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen Widescreen Internet Tablet with Built-In Camera, Black MID1042-8 (Personal Computers)
Okay, I've had this little gem for about 5 days now. I was looking for a ten inch tab, but didn't have a lot of cash. I already have the Acer Iconia A-100, which is a great tablet. But i wanted a 10 incher. When i first got it, it ran fine but there was no Google App Store, bummer, So I got the Amazon App Store. everything was working fine but when I loaded Netflix it didn't work, the app loaded fine but the screen would just go blank. I called Coby Customer Service and they said it was a problems with Adobe flash not running right? Anyways, with Coby you actually get a live person however, you may not get one that knows anything. So i looked around on the internet and found that this is a problem with the tablet. I also found a solution. A tech advised to reboot the system and erase factory files. Here is the message ---- "Power the unit off (holding power buttom) and selecting Power off, then hold simultaneusly back button and on buttom 8 seconds, when the android icon appears press the back button, in the menu select wipe data/factory reset pressing home buttom and then press back buttom, in the next screen select "yes delete all user data" pressing back buttom, and in the next screen select "reboot system now" with the back buttom and wait. IT WORK FOR MY TABLET." ------
After doing this download the Good e-Reader app store through Getjar. The Good e-Read app store has everything. Netflix now works great on my tablet. I was also able to down load pretty much every app the Google Play Store has. They even have the Google Play Store app. Anyways, after doing this my tablet runs smoother, seems to be faster and everything works. Took this tablet from a 3 to a 5 star. I now love this tablet. Oh, when doing this it will erase things (music, pics, videos) on the tablet but not on the SD Card.

Jason, thanks for the information. Seems you know your way around on these things. Do you know if there is a way to get these to load Adobe Flash Player? I am looking for a way to play movies from my Amazon Prime account which requires Flash Player

I am going to go home and try this with my daughter's that she received for Christmas. As of right now it is just a disappointment of a gift, one that she really wanted. She loves the games. Right now all she can do is search Pinterest because all of the Getjar apps are zero fun. If this does not work, we will return it. Though it is a less expensive tablet, it is Android, therefore I was anticiapting a bit more of that flexibility.

I tried to reboot the way you explained and the android icon did not appear. I may be misunderstanding your directions?
1. Power off device.
2. hold "reset" and power button simultaneously until the android icon appears
is that correct?

I tried doing this to my coby kyros 9.7 tab & it worked!!!! when the menu thing comes up & you are suppose to push the back button, that didnt work for me. It just made the menu disappear, but if I push it again it would re-appear. also, i didnt have a home button to push to move the selection down to the "wipe data/factory reset", had to use the volume button. also, it was the power button that I had to use to ok the selection. So, i'll give my directions which worked for me & maybe they'll help someone else. "Power the unit off (holding power button) & selecting Power off, then hold simultaneusly back button & Power button 8 seconds, after the "coby" logo appears you can let go, then the "android Icon, (the green machine) comes up, press the back button once & the menu will appear, press the volume button to move the selection to "wipe data/factory reset" & press the (but not hold) the power button, in the next screen select "yes delete all user data" & press power button again, (not hold) in the next screen select (with the volume button) "reboot system now" then push the power button & wait. With my tablet, for some reason never did reboot itself like its suppose to, i waited, like 30min. so finally i manually shut it off, & when I turned it back on, IT WORKED! The operating sys. was still there & the original icons were too. so i downloaded the e-reader like he said & went to it & found Netflix. & Yes It Worked too. My prob. now is that there was no Google play store app or the apk. I can't get it downloaded from any site!!! I dont know if I downloaded the wrong e-reader of if it didnt erase all of the settings that it was suppose to. Anyone who might know I'd appreciate the help. But THANK YOU Janowby a bunch, My kids love you!!!!

Thank-you so much for your review, I made the difference in buying or not buying this tablet for my wife. I had a question on how long did you wait for while it gave the reboot andriod logo?
