3.0 out of 5 stars There are some good Foscam cameras for the money---this is not one of those, January 7, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Foscam FI9821P Plug & Play Megapixel 1.0 Megapixel 1280 x 720 Wireless/Wired Pan/Tilt IP Camera with IR-Cut (Black) (Electronics)
This is my 13th ip cam and my 11th Foscam. I am not a novice when it comes to setting these things up. I know how to set up port forwarding, have a no-ip account, yada, yada, yada.

It normally takes me about ten minutes to complete the setup.

Many hours later this annoying product works but it is hardly worth the up charge. Accessing the scan code on the bottom of it is a joke and the associated Foscam iPhone app never worked particularly well other than to tell me, "command success" or " this too exist". The scan code thing never worked, but PTP finally did with a copy paste of the UID.

There are some great Foscams. This is not yet one of them, at least not at almost twice the price. Way over priced for features. The basic MJPEG came are good value for the dollar. The ones that cost $70. Not this one.

I've already printed off the return UPS.

I am---was---a Foscam fan and booster. Less so this morning.

If considering this because of advertised ease of set up...better to go with a basic Foscam MJPEG.

Don't get me started on my five attempts to update firmware.

What would you recommend instead?

J. Tew says:
The F18910W. I have seven of these cams and while they are not "HD" they are more than adequate and tend to be very stable.

Regarding firmware, the F19810Ws all updated firmware with out a hiccup---wirelessly.

I also have two D-Link 942 series cams---do not recommend---three Foscam fixed outside cams (05 and 06) and the previously discussed 21.

Foscam, particularly in their cheaper cams packs a lot for the buck.
