Dance Central exceeded expectations,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought my wife the Kinect with this game and another for Christmas. We were in a Best Buy in early Dec and she saw someone playing this game and her eyes completely lit up. She tried it out (btw, very funny) in the store and wanted it immediately. I'm always a skeptic when it comes to gimmicky-type things like this, but I've become a believer in that the Kinect not only works, but developers are creating good games to take advantage of the technology. This game, and I admit, I have played it a few times, is very fun. The Kinect cameras really seem to pick up each arm/leg movement and scores pretty accurately. There is a lot of moving in this game, or dancing, which is not my strongest asset. I like the layout of this game. I'm a big Guitar Hero/Rock Band freak, and this has that same feel to it - scoring wise. For a guy with no body rhythm, I find that the moves are not too difficult and does not become discouraging. My wife loves it. She plays this on Hard level and almost daily now, which unfortunately is cutting into my game time, but I digress. We don't go to clubs, so I didn't know she could dance. But with all the moving on Hard level, the Kinect still seems to accurately capture and score all her moves. The songs, well, I'm not a big fan of them, but it is a dance game, so you need dance songs.
In a nutshell, this game is an excellent buy. The movements are captured very well and it is a lot of fun. As always, I have to give Amazon kudos. I ordered this Tues 12/21 and received it Thurs 12/23 in a well-packaged box.
I forgot to mention one thing. This game says it accomodates two players, but it really isn't two-player in the classic sense. There is an option to challenge another player, and you two will trade off during the song. You cannot play two-player and simultaneously dance/score during a song. Not a deal-breaker, but not what we expected.
