Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Best of (2CD/1DVD) (Audio CD)
ok the first reason i bought this C.D is because of the german version song "Schrei" which is really hard to get in the U.S. when i opened the packaging i was shocked its the best packaging Tokio Hotel's C.D's ever had. But on the making version it doesn't have eng. subs some of them do though. Its The Best C.D's Ever. When i got the C.D in the Mail The first day it came out i spent 2 hours lstening to it. Keep On Making Awesome Songs Tokio Hotel. Ich Liebe Tokio Hotel (i love tokio hotel in german)

You make a couple of excellent points. This album contains a very unusual version of Schrei. It's post voice change Bill singing the version of this song that previously I'd only heard done when the band was younger. (It's a new version of the old version!) I didn't have this before, so I thought that was pretty cool. Also, you are correct - the packaging of this CD/DVD set is just stunning! Such gorgeous photos of all the guys...almost worth the price by themselves, LOL.

I will be doing a proper review of this set, but yeah, this package is fun because of all the different versions you get...I found out there were TWO different versions of their debut "Schrei" album, pre-voice change and post-voice change...the vidclips on the DVD, you have the pre-VC clip in German and the English version, and the post-VC track in German on the German CD...as for the 2 versions of the German "Schrei", you can tell which is which, the pre-VC album, Bill has the shorter new wave hairdo and looks like he's 12...and the post-VC album, he has longer hair.
Great set, but yeah, no subtitles...so now I have to learn Deutsch, haha...but it was funny to watch the "Schrei" vidclip because it was like watching kidpunk...they look 12 and trash a house, plus you get all these partygirls making out and fooling around...like, hmmm, if this was presented to MTV in the US and it was in English, would it get played?? Me, I think it's fun, but makes you wonder...
Anyhoo, love the band, great mixture of powerpop, glam, punk, electronic, and Euro-rock, a cross between a band like HIM with Scorpions, Bowie and Adam Lambert. BIG fan of bands like TH out of Europe and Scandinavia...they just have this melodic pop sensibility they don't try to hide under big rock sounds and electronic elements.
