I originally bought this hoping to play over LAN with my roommate who has the game on PS3, but after further research, realized that the console and PC versions can't communicate. I fixed the problem by picking up another copy for him (beats buying another PS3), but it would have been helpful for this limitation to have been made more obvious to potential buyers.
I get adequate framerates with all the eye-candy turned off on my ultrabook, but honestly, I'm concentrating too hard to admire the scenery anyway.
The game itself is quite fun; the super-hardcore sim tinkerer part of me wished there were more options for mechanical tweaking of the car's setup, but as a long-time fan of Papyrus racing games, I have nothing to complain about regarding the driving dynamics--it's real ENOUGH for me, but also accessible enough to keep me trying to improve.
The one gripe I do have, though, is with the sometimes arbitrary feel of the driving penalties... which I guess some would argue makes it all the more realistic ;-)
