4.0 out of 5 stars Great for existing cloud drive users, November 27, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Amazon Cloud Drive Photos (App)
It's nice to know that if you don't already subscribe to Amazon Cloud Drive that you get 5GB for free with this app. If you are already a Cloud Drive subscriber there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't add this app.

It was easy to install, it is easy to use and (contrary to other reviews I've seen here) it does keep my folder structure and that means it is easy to find ANY photo!

The only slight drawback that I see is that there is no way that I have found to start a slideshow once you bring up a group of photos. If it had this feature, I would have given it five stars.

This is a must have for anyone who either already has Amazon Cloud Drive or someone who wants to get 5GB of Cloud Drive storage for free. Highly recommended!

One possible solution for the slideshow problem is the app FireFrame. Chopstick Software, a company I co-founded, developed the app to make your Kindle Fire even better. We love how easy the cloud drive makes it to get photos on your device, but FireFrame turns the Kindle Fire into a digital picture frame and provides a nice solution to your problem. There are both paid and free ad supported versions of the app.

This sounds interesting, but I get the impression that the pictures have to be on my device in order for this to work. Can I pick pictures from the cloud and do a slideshow of only those selected?

You are correct. FireFrame does support Flickr, Facebook, and Instagram so if your photos are in those services we can stream them to your device. Amazon Cloud streaming is not currently supported.

Due to the terms of use of the Amazon Cloud, we can't support streaming photos directly from the cloud. We wish Amazon would allow us to do so. There is an undocumented API that would allow for this so it's technically feasible, but our understanding is the Terms of Use prohibit us from supporting the Amazon Cloud directly. Streaming from the Amazon Cloud has been on our radar from the very beginning and we've made attempts to contact Amazon in hopes of supporting it directly in our app, but we have not been able to get it resolved.
