It works as advertised,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sylvania 72178 Motion Activated Battery Powered Safety Light (Tools & Home Improvement)
This item works just as advertised. One complaint (and this is minor), is that it gives a 'flashlight-like' light...with a beam...rather than a soft 'glow'. That's probably because it doesn't have a diffuser over the LED's (which would also diminish the light). But with some scotch tape over the 'lens', I was easily able to diffuse the light. (And besides, once the beam 'hits' the 'other wall' in my room, the light 'spreads-out'.) But if you need this type of light for a larger area, I'd definitely recommend this one. In addition, the 'description' on Amazon said it stays on for 12 seconds, I believe, but mine (happily) stays on more like 20 seconds. Another complaint is that you have to mount it at least 5 feet off the ground for the motion sensor to activate the light without having to 'get almost right next to it' for the light to turn on. Another complaint I have is that you can't absolutely count on the two-sided sticky tape, that came with the light, to hold it up. Mine fell off the wall within a short period of time. But there are holes for using mounting screws which I would recommend using. (It also comes with a fairly strong magnet to hold to metal objects, which works well.)

hmm... not sure if your review is a positive review as everything in it is a complaint except for the "works as advertised" comment. This does not want to make me buy this product.

Reliable motion activated lights are hard to come by especially at this price point. They all have their quirks. Actually it's more like we have to figure out how to place and use a motion detector so that it provides it's best performance. I have 3 of these that have been working well for over a year. The mounting tape is s*crap, don't use it. It's a really good device, the main problem people have with it is that the motion detector stops working. This is caused by the batteries(even just one battery) popping slightly up inside the battery compartment. Press down the inside clips if you have this problem and the lights are great. Some people trash them because they don't understand this. The problems that Bargain Finder lists are minor stuff. Check out my review of this product if you like.
