Great Regency Romance reminiscent of Georgette Heyer,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Impetuous (Paperback)
I've read a few Georgette Heyer classic Regency romances, and this well-written novel has some of the same flavor, with an appealing, independent-minded and determined heroine, and a hero with rakish charm but underlying integrity. The plot of the hero's search for a stolen family heirloom adds a scaffolding of action, intrigue and danger to the romance. The supporting characters, including the heroine's unpleasant aunt, supportive cousin, loyal lady's maid, helpful coachman, and a poet who is a stalwart male friend, are well-drawn and believable. As in many romances published today, the hero and heroine go further into the boudoir than they did in Georgette's books, but unlike some recent romances I've read, Impetuous is steamy without feeling like formulaic soft-core porn. The ending is genuinely moving. This is a great read for all who love novels of romance and adventure.
