5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME SOUND FOR FANTASTIC PRICE!, June 2, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Photive HYDRA Rugged Water Resistant Wireless Bluetooth Speaker. Shockproof and Waterproof Wireless Speaker with latest Bluetooth 4.0 Technology (Electronics)
I originally purchased this speaker because I needed a way to listen to my music, etc. in the car while my kids watched their DVDs through my minivan's audio system. I didn't want to spend a ton of money on something that I could ONLY use in the car (such as an fm receiver) though, so I found myself looking at bluetooth speakers. My Dad has a jawbone jam box speaker - but he paid an insane amount of money for it and when I found a review that compared the Photive speaker to the Jawbone and the Photive came out ahead, I was sold. Since I planned to use the speaker both in the car and on the go, I decided to spend the little bit extra and go with the HYDRA model for the water resistant/rugged features (I have two young boys - spills happen AND we spend a lot of time at the beach, on the soccer fields, etc where features like that come in handy). This speaker is FANTASTIC!!!!! The sound quality is AMAZING. The range is fabulous. We even did our own test comparing it to the Jawbone Jambox ($199.99) and I'd take the Photive HYDRA over the Jambox any day. Long story short? Buy this. It won't disappoint!!!!

Are there any worries about overheating in the car? Where do you mount/set it?

Caution should be applied using a "brick" like this in a vehicle. In the event of a crash this could seriously hurt vehicle occupants unless it is well secured.

Well, yes. Although it's not a caution I needed, perhaps others will pay heed.
