4.0 out of 5 stars Phantom Power, November 24, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Behringer XENYX502 5-Channel Mixer (Electronics)
Most of the 502 units being shipped out now include a Phantom Power Supply. Which for the record a Phantom power supply costs nearly as much as this unit it self. The main thing to remember is that the power is not on the 3/4 but only on the XLR. This unit was simple to use I just wish they would have marked that the XLR was the powered port I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was going on. The sound is amazing I am outputing to my computer for some sound tests and it is flawless great bargain I only gave it 4 stars because of the lack of notifications of which port was powered.

Enjoy,

Of course, the phantom power is only on newer units, and this was added without changing the model number. So beware if you buy one used, here at Amazon or elsewhere, that it may not have the phantom power. Be sure to ask, first, if this is important to you.

You will need cables, it does not have any included. Most likely a mic cable (also called an XLR Cable) and then a male-RCA to Male stereo mini (or 1/8th inch TRS) cable. That second cable is often used to connect an iPod to a stereo, so it is very common, and easy to find. You may even have one lying around that came with something else.

Actually, you may have to put a meter across pins 1 and 3. I just picked up one at guitar center, boxs says " now with phantom power" but there is not. Only the 15V standard preamp voltage. I will be headed over there tomorrow to return it. Solid unit though.
