3.0 out of 5 stars Serves a very limited audience, August 31, 2008

If you are carrying expensive camera equipment in unfriendly environments, this is the bag for you. For the 95% of us who don't, it's overkill and not very spacious.

Wow. If I need to be in extreme wet or dusty weather conditions, I'll simply place my SLR inside a Zip-Lock gallon size freezer bag without magnets. Then, the camera will easily go into my present feature-rich, well padded camera bag. Thank you for taking the time to make this useful video. Great review.

Just a question....so, you use your ziploc bags...ignoring the foresight needed here as well as the discipline needed to use them consistently in the field. You end up somewhere wet with your non-waterproof backpack style bag or even your shoulder bag, what happens if you have a bag that requires you remove it to access your gear? What happens to the bag as you stay within this dusty/wet/whatever environment? Eventually the bag you have will begin to pickup dust and moisture, this cannot be helped it just happens merely by the consistent conditions...just something to consider not a knock against the idea of ziploc's...I have used them for travel for decades and they are GREAT but not impervious or durable either.

I like this bag as it seems well thought out and delivers exactly the sort of performance the name implies. And since I use pretty much nothing but environmentally sealed camera gear from Pentax, I would never even carry my standard lenses with my K20D and soon to be added K-7 bodies and the bag would actually be for protecting the other needed accessories as the actual camera gear is already water/dust/slime proof...still for travel through areas with such conditions I can only see this bag as a bonus for day trips leaving the non-environmentally protected bag in camp, the car or the room.

I use almost all National Geographic bags treated with Nikwax...they are surprisingly water resistant with the treatment as well as their inner lining protecting from outer moisture/dust/slime seeping inside. Still they are not the proverbial frog's bottom side here...you know water tight...so, I am hunting a bag like this for the places I wanted...it will be nice to know I do not need to take the bag off to get into it nor do I need look for the driest spot to set it down. Not 100% sold on this bag yet, but thought I would offer a differing perspective of someone who NEEDS and wants a bag designed for nastier conditions.

Now if someone would mare waterproof SDHC cards I would be in pure bliss!! ;)

GREAT video review!! Seeing it in action helps tons!

I would comment on the mention of the magnet vs. your portable HDD...my money is on the HDD being protected enough from the magnet simply because of the carrier it's in as well as the design of most HDD's today being fairly well shielded...still it is something to be aware of for sure!!

What ya neglected to mention is the MEMORY CARDS are far more likely to be zapped by a magnet than your HDD. So, best to either keep the memory cards as far away from the magnets as possible and/or store them in a small shielded plastic bag. I am thinking even just a Mylar bag (anything your HDD or system memory might have shipped inside) should do the trick as these are not strong magnetic fields here and they affective distances are small...in fact enclosing the card within your palm as it passes near the magnet should be more than sufficient protection. But again your comment about the magnet is something anyone who uses this bag should consider as they plan out using it in the field.

Thanks again for a wonderful review...
