Make: Technology on Your Time, Vol. 30, By Mark Frauenfelder, O'Reilly Media,
This review is from: Make: Technology on Your Time Volume 30 (Paperback)
Make is a publication for the technology geek with a workshop. Make volume 30 has 'home automation' as it's central theme. This issue features articles detailing automation control interfaces, communication protocols, and physical interfaces required to automate various systems found in your home. Learn how to build a 4 camera home security system with a web accessible real time video feed with David Bodnar's "Homemade Home Security" article. The Networked Smart Thermostat, by Eric Merrill, will detail how to control a heating and cooling system for more efficient operation and potential cost savings. These are just a couple of subjects in this issue.
Accompanying home automation, there are a number of articles and regular columns featuring unique solutions to problems and general fun things. The projects in this issue include a how-to on building a battery powered R/C flying wing airplane, a Yakitori grill for cooking kabobs, and some projects with PVC pipe that are unique and stylish.
I look forward to each issue of Make and always read it cover to cover. It never fails to delight with interesting and entertaining content. This comes as no surprise. I am, after all, a technology geek with a workshop. I would recommend this book.
