Not What I Expected,
This review is from: Create Your Own Economy: The Path to Prosperity in a Disordered World (Hardcover)
After reading the inside cover and back of this book, I expected this book to be something about ideas in which you would be able to create your own economy (or marketplace) based off where we are at today in society in regards to the internet. I assumed it was somewhat computer/internet related since there are images of keyboard "keys" on the cover and flipping through the pages, I noticed where the author mentions popular websites such as Google and Facebook.
I admit that part of it is my fault, because the title does say "economy" (and not "market") and does not mention anywhere that the ideas from this book could be made into a profitable opportunity in any way, so I can't blame the book description for everything. But I do find the title sort of misleading and I can't seem to relate the title to the content of the book. The book read as if it were more about autism, thinking, and different philosophies and how it may affect our economy versus how to create your own economy.
Even though the author probably didn't mean the book to come across this way, I personally felt that the focus of this book was to point out that autism is not a bad thing, there are a lot of really "smart" people that are somewhat autistic, autistic people are discriminated against, autistic people are creative, and autistic people have a lot to contribute to our economy and society. I totally agree with the author's point of view on autism, but I did not buy this book to read about autism.
