Great so far! COZZZEEEE, with a few quibbles..,
This review is from: Sunbeam Camelot Cuddler Microplush Throw, Ivy (Kitchen)
I've read reviews of other Sunbeam models and apparently some folks have complained about the quality of other throw designs.
After one day of use, the Lofttec is a comfy item to have for everyone (but, especially for ladies, and elderly). My wife cozied up in this thing, and it's a welcomed replacement over our space heater which she hogs.. HA! In fact, the space heater is never used much - a good thing, because it uses 1500 watts (like running a hair dryer for hours on end). This throw is safer, and more cost effective heat to use (if a blanket is ok for users). My version is called a Lofttec throw (made by Sunbeam), but it looks just like the Camelot one (BTW, I paid $50 at Bed B.B. for mine). If I run into issues with the auto shut-off, or anything else (as many have lamented on what appear to be older Sunbeam throw products sold on Amazon), I will update this review. For now this blanket is great just to sit on, or cover up with. Mine takes about 2-3 minutes to get to full warmth, and the medium setting gets a cozy warm (just right on a winter's night); this setting feels like you just pulled a blanket, or towel directly from the clothes dryer. The low setting is also good. I fell asleep wrapped up in the Lofttec on the couch and I didn't want to move... Note: I've yet to use the "hot" setting and am unsure if you'd ever need it much.. The low, and medium settings are nicely adequate for intended use. NOTE: this is not full sized electric blanket, but it's large enough to cover your body on a couch etc. Also, if you love heated car seats, but don't have one, this blanket will work with a cigarette lighter plug adapter (110V). If I have to fuss, the power cord/plug-in is large, and in charge... (pun intended) So, sometimes the power cord, and plug are a nuisance when trying to get comfortable, but not a big deal.
Pets are not supposed to be on this thing, but my pets won't stay off of it.. This is a must-buy!
Note: after a few months this still works fine, but I've noticed that the heat intensity seems like it varies? The medium level seemed to have been warmer when it was new than now. We are now using the "hot" level regularly. This may be just differences in our home temperature, and our body temps too.
Update: Ok, it turns out that the heat intensity is fine, and the flucuation I mentioned above has to do with our home temp, and outside temperature variation.. However, there are a few things which annoy me about this blanket. The first is that the power plug (female end) is over-kill and lunky.. it sticks out; is cumbersome, and sometimes rubs up against you and you have to reposition to make it less bothersome. Also, while the controls on this are very intuitive and easy to use, if you slightly touch the "on" button, the blanket comes on. So, you should store this blanket away when not in use, and NOT on the couch, or chair which you use it. If your intention is to use the blanket without heat, you can accidently turn the blanket on unknowingly, and leave it on all day, or night.. Or, if you have kids, or dogs they can land on the blanket controls and easily turn it on and no one will know.. Despite these few gripes, this blanket does a great job of keeping you nice and warm without using a wasteful space heater (uses 1500 watts).. I would imagine that this blanket is NOT to be used by, or for, young children, especially infants (unless under cautious care of adults).. So, it's great for adults, just be careful to put it away when not in use.
