The Best of the Best!,
This review is from: Rich Man, Poor Man (VHS Tape)
I would have to rate this as the best mini-series ever produced. I recently got to see it again after about 25 years. I borrowed it from the library, which seems like the only place that still might have a copy. I recall when it was first on TV, I think it was an ABC Movie Event. Sitting each week enthralled in the storyline and then waiting for the next episode. This was the most thrilling thing to ever have been on television and it has stayed with me all these years. I became a life long Nick Nolte fan after seeing 'Rich Man, Poor Man'. I only wish this was on DVD! With all the junk that is put on DVD, why not something this ground breaking???

Rich Man Poor Man is available on DVD but you have to do some tweaking to enjoy it in the US. It's available in Europe (has been for years) but you need to have a region free DVD player or use one of a number of softwares to remove the region code (it's set to PAL region 2) in order to watch it here (NTSC region 1). If you wish to copy it for yourself you need to compress it to fit on standard DVD discs, remove macrovision, and 3rd but not least remove the region code. No small feat but worth it in the end. I have the original DVD's (3 in a set) from Europe and I was able to copy them onto plain ordinary blank DVDs after tweaking them as mentioned above. Now when I want to watch them I no longer need the originals, just pop them in any US made DVD player.

I would write to them, but i do not have a clue where to send my letter/request to? If you can send me this, I would be most appreciative!
My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. I have this mini series on VCR tapes, and I try to get to watch this 10 hour series at least once a year...but it is most painful because it is on tape, not DVD. If only!!!!!

Region free players are inexpensive, why not just buy one and the British sets? I have 2 region free players in my house right now, and am gonna finally buy the English sets this month.

How great is your post. My sister and I sat glued to the set and became Nolte fans as well. We bought the DVD of Book 1 a couple of years ago. We got to see it again. It was a blast. We found the DVD in Europe and bought it on-line.

Rich Man Poor Man has to be the best mini series I have ever seen. I was telling my friend that I would love to see this movie again and wouldn't you know it was on all day Sunday. I could not leave my TV set. It was this move that I feel in love with the actors Nick Nolti and Peter Strauss. What a great great classic movie. I would love to have this move on DVD. Christine G
