Not levi quality,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Levi's Women's 505 Straight Leg Jean,, (Apparel)
I have several pair of 505s. These definitely aren't the same quality. Elaborate pocket embroidery and flimsy material were suspect coming out of the package, but I decided to wash and wear them. They were fine for about an hour, then became stretched and baggy. I can't return them but wont buy Levis again online.

This was my favorite style for a long time, but as you say, the quality has gone downhill and the attempts at decoration are getting excessive--suddenly you can't buy these and just assume you're getting the classic Levi's pocket design anymore. If I wanted trashy looking "whiskers", embroidery, flaps, weird piping, hyper-distressing etc. I'd get some cheap off brand made for teenagers. What Levi's has (or had) going for it was that it was a well-made classic with reliably understated style. Most of these aren't even suitable for casual workplace anymore.
Anyway, thanks for echoing my angst about this.

Susan Lapinski says:
Agreed. Flimsy fabric, leg openings are wider, not your standard no nonsense jeans anymore. I nearly froze when I wore these outside, the wind goes right through them! But you'll notice you aren't paying a lower price for the lower grade fabric....

I feel it's because they are not made in USA anymore. Seems like the quality of everything is terrible anymore.
