Pretty bad, but adds a bit to the games.,
This review is from: Mass Effect: Retribution (Mass Effect (Paperback)) (Mass Market Paperback)
I think many of the reviews here come from people who just really appreciate getting more information and context from this universe.
The books themselves are rather horribly written. The story and story telling is predictable and cliche in a very disappointing way - much like a Dan Brown book. I didn't expect more, but that doesn't mean it didn't suck. I'd have put down the book very early if I was reading a text version. I had the audio version however, so I slogged through the trilogy while commuting etc.
In the end it gives some more context for the video games, which makes the games a slightly better experience (especially Mass Effect 3). Having played the games didn't really improve my enjoyment of the books however.
Don't read them if you aren't going to play the games.
