This review is from: They Live (DVD)
Wondering what you world would be like if it were run by aliens that were trying to control your minds through subliminal messaging? Well, look no further than John Carpenter's cult classic They Live. Wresting superstar Roddy Piper stars as Nada, a drifter that stumbles upon a pair of sunglasses that show him the truth about his society and the world he inhabits. He discovers that humans are not the only beings to be living on the planet Earth. Nada also knows what he must do to save the human race from complete invasion of these creatures. Does he have enough time and manpower to stop these culprits of communication or will Nada only help them enslave the human race? It will all teeter on the amount of "bubblegum" that he carries with him!
Visionary director John Carpenter creates this world that is not unlike today's society. Glued to the television and void of independent thought, he shows us a human race that resembles cattle in the fields waiting for the farmer's next decision. Created well before The Matrix, Carpenter uses aliens to demonstrate the power of the media and the superpowers behind the scenes. In a world where we gather our truth from others and in the comfort of our own home, this film carries themes that are still relevant today. Carpenter shows us that we can live in a world, even a city, and not realize what is happening around us. How hidden are those subliminal messages in our culture? He also prods at the notion that only the wealthy can create the supposed truth, and that eventually the lines between wealthy and homeless with be much defined. There will be an elimination of the middle-class and humans would be at the bottom of the social order.
This was a beautiful film that carries with it a heavy burden of showing us the truth of our world. While we may giggle and laugh at this "created" society, there are some truths to what Carpenter is showing. He gives us warnings and answers if we choose to listen. I was not expecting such a high caliber of emotion to go into a film like this, and was utterly surprised by the experience. Perhaps it is the packaging, perhaps it is because our culture has not adapted well to the horror/sci-fi genre yet, but everyone should experience this film once. I recommend it for anyone that enjoyed The Matrix and want to see more about the structure of our society.

The "aliens" are here. They are the ruthless, egotistical gangstalkers, who are controlled by local police nationwide and by the Federal District of Criminals. Supposedly these nationwide groups are protecting us from "terrorists" and "criminals." NOT. It is a virtual prison for ALL Americans, and ALL Americans are now guilty until proven innocent (and in fact who cares about innocence or guilt when badged criminals can get away with murder). The virtual prison already is in place and it consists of your neighborhood jailers (gangstalkers, cops), directed energy weapons and your cellphone/GPS. The "skull and bones" that Nada sees through the glasses refers to the secret societies that have hijacked our military institutions and all three branches of government. Elections are a farce. browse henrymakow dotcom. and watch Brother Nathanael on youtube.

You may expect the typical flood of naysayers to your post because Amerizombies are blissfully unaware of verifiable facts like Homeland Security buying up ammunition at the rate of 500,000,000 rounds bi-annually and the President refusing to disclose what or who 'associated forces' and other terms in the NDAA actually are even when ordered to do so by a court of law. This and many other dangerous tidbits of information glance off their domes like RF signals and they simply will not see the truth. Indeed, it would literally take a pair of truth-seeing glasses like in They Live for most of the zombies to wake from their slumber and see what's going on around them -- and even then, they probably would CHOOSE not to believe it or do anything about it.
The point? We're ALREADY living in a police state. We're ALREADY beyond the pale. This is why your Presidents are chosen and primed for you and why both Romney and Obama are, IN FACT, bankrolled by the same people. But will the zombies look this up and wake from their slumber? Nah. It's just like They Live, and they'll need the hell beaten out of them by their loving government before they look around and take stock.
They Live illustrates rather boldly how easy it is for people to slip into tyranny comfortably and wear chains without even seeing them.

after watching this film, look-up on youtube under celebrity humanoids and realize, this film, weather Mr. john Carpenter realized it then or not is a prophetic sci-fi/horror film maker with this iconic gem. our yuppy government is supposedly possessed by reptillian/humanoid hybrids and a good number of them are currently in our system. i am the only one in my family whom KNOWS this! keep in mind, unlike bill maher special be more cynical.....rather be far more skeptical and instead of only believing half of what u/we hear and only the fruits of reality concerning what we see... try "believe" only 10% of what you hear and only 30% of what you see...cgi has made it possible to fake virtually anything, from ufo's to human beings. you have been enlightened by V-EN-d.e.t.a(<joke!). even former wcw/wwe/tna wrestler DDP>daimond dallas page=page faulkinberg made playful reference to the REALITY of this film.

This movie is similar to Secret Societies that I mentioned in my review of this movie. If you are curious, read my review of this movie.
The movie "The Matrix" is similar to Industrial Spies and Shills. Why? Because what we perceived everyday is influence by a 'matrix' created by Industrial Spies and Shills. Even though Secret Societies employ Industrial Spies and Shills, but so do corporations, clans, industries, etc.
Both "The Matrix" and "They Live" are about society. But each one represent a different aspect of society.
