Better than I had hoped,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ASUS VivoTab RT TF600T-B1-GR 10.1-Inch 32 GB Tablet (Gray) 2012 Model (Personal Computers)
The moderate reviews this tablet has received from tech websites do not do it justice. They say the downfall is it doesn't have that many apps. Well, Apple released with 300, Android with 700, and this with 3,000. Give it a few weeks and it will have everything you need. Responsiveness, speed, load times, screen display, all of these things are great and I have no complaints. I can use remote desktop to access terminals at work, which was previously impossible on iOS / Android. Outlook allows all of my work emails to stream right in, and word / powerpoint / excel etc allow me to do my college projects and manage work documents from it. It is not a COMPLETE desktop / laptop replacement, but it is as close to it is I have ever seen. Ignore 3/5 reviews from CNET, Gizmodo, and Engadget for not having "the hundreds of thousands of apps from the competition". Jeez, give it some time, it's brand new!
Edit: By Outlook, I meant "Mail" on the start screen. You can sync outlook accounts, yahoo, gmail, etc all into one hub.

This released with over 9,000 apps (Oct. 26th.) It has over 10k right now. You're right though, apps will not be an issue as over 500/day are being added.
@Donny, it has a ton of Games: Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Cut the rope, Reckless Racing Ultimate, Angry Birds Space, Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride, Doodle God, Doodle Devil, Wordament, Words by post, Chess by post, etc. Right now, there are 1,170 games in the store.

Thank you for your review. What do you think the difference would be if I purchased the Windows Surface out last week? Can you run word and excel? Lastly, will it run Java.

you will be wanting a true windows 8 tablet to run thoese apps......this is a windows 8 RT tablet.
Amazon carries the acers version but they comes at a hefty price tag, as do all true windows 8 tablets. You might as well just save $300 and get a android tablet because a windows 8 RT tab is pretty gimped for the price and doesn't do much more. The hardware inside this asus tab is the same that's inside the asus infinity android tablet. Your either going ot be spending $350 or $850 but i sure wouldn't settle for a RT version in between.
Also this exact same item can be found for $100 cheaper at microcenter, best buy will price match, amazon will not. So if you buy here at amazon your throwing away $100.

An Android tablet that you can never upgrade to the latest version? An android tablet whose controls are like that of a phone? Well if you think you can save $100 by buying an Android tablet over a Windows RT tablet, you can as well not buy anything and save the whole money.

Word and Excel yes, I have not tried Java, as I have not yet needed to use it. I will get back with you on that!

Outlook isn't needed, all email from all sources can be fed through "Mail" on the start screen, including my old Outlook accounts. But no you are correct, Outlook itself is not on here.

FYI, MS Stores started selling on Dec 5th the Asus VivoTab RT for $399 -- including -- the keyboard while supplies last!
Either Asus did not do well selling this item, or maybe reducing inventory ahead of the coming release of the $499 Asus VivoTab Smart (full Windows 8 + 7 OS).
