This review is from: Explore TIPS: A Practical Guide to Investing in Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (Paperback)
For as much coverage as stocks and stock funds receive, it's a shame that bonds (TIPS or otherwise) don't receive more press. Admittedly, my own knowledge about the bond portion of my portfolio is rather shaky compared to the stock portion.
This book went a long way toward bridging that gap.
The book bills itself as "a practical guide to investing in TIPS", and that's exactly what it is. It walks you through how TIPS work, the advantages and disadvantages of individual TIPS as opposed to TIPS funds, how to buy TIPS when they're auctioned, and how to buy TIPS on the secondary market from other investors.
It's a relatively short book, but since its topic is so focused, it still feels very thorough. I'm sure I still don't know everything there is to know about TIPS, but the book answered every one of my questions as well as several I'd never thought to ask.
Highly recommended for any do-it-yourself investor.
