Digital to Analog Conversion is Impossible in a Wire,
This review is from: HDMI to 3 RCA + VGA Cable M/M 1.8m/6ft (Electronics)
I can't believe how naive i was when i bought this. Think about it. HDMI is Digital, RCA is analog... There is no conversion box in between the 2 ends. There is NO WAY this cord can work. I purchased it and tried, until i wised up and got some common sense. I plan on removing the cover to see how the seller spliced the wires together.
Again, to sum it up in one word..... Impossible....
Edit: Apparently this cable is only for CERTAIN applications that have a HDMI connection that can receive analog signals. The wire takes an analog output from RCA and sends the signal to an analog HDMI connector on a projector or old monitor. NOT FOR THE TYPICAL USE OF CONNECTING A LAPTOP TO AN HD TV.
Wish the description had a little more detail. Still rating 1 star until better description is given.

I find this hard to understand. A person admits they were ignorant and bought the wrong tool for the job. But they give the tool one star. They should give themselves one star.

This cable is for both HDMI and VGA, VGA being analog. In addition these cables are not usually "just a wire", thanks to the smaller ICs and components the plugs of these wires actually contain very small circuits which can and do in fact convert the signals as necessary. So before you go ranting on the internet about how it's impossible at least do research before hand.

I have a cheap LCD tv that does not have a HDMI. I have a media streamer that needs a HDMI to RCA cable. So, maybe this product doesn't/didn't work for you but I'm not trying to plug it into a HD device from another HD device and expect to be blown away. I have HDMI to Comp cables, HDMI to VGA and VGA to RCA for my laptop that are used for connecting to analog CRT's, projectors, etc. This would be a nice cable to have as some of us don't replace perfectly working TV's/Monitors just because they are outdated. That's just dump.

I probably do deserve to rate myself with one star.
Looks like the description has been updated on the item to say "Unidirectional HDMI in to VGA / 3 RCA out". Important information to have when purchasing a cable to convert HDMI to 3 RCA.

So, are you saying that THIS cable does have small IC's that convert the digital signal to analog?

Actually he's pointing out the poor description is misleading to people who don't know any better. I beleive the seller deserves the low rating.
