ooh-ah-ah-ah-ah (actual lyrics from an actual "metal" song),
This review is from: Indestructible (Audio CD)
Don't take this the wrong way Sky, but if "hardcore metal" (which in your view, I'm sure, lumps everything from raw black metal to melodic deathcore to goth rock to grindcore into one basket) isn't "listenable," it's because YOU DON'T LISTEN TO IT. Just because it's a few feet off the beaten path -- e.g., Blooddrunk, KOS, In Sorte, Canto IX, ad infinitum -- doesn't make it "too harsh" "non-musical" "noise"; it means it's not formulaic & doesn't suckoff pop radio shlong. Nor does it make Disturbed "metal": NO double bass, NO blast beats, (time changes?) absurdly overrated guitar "solos," cheesy vocals -- THAT is metal? And touting clean production like it makes or breaks a band. To quote Jacob Bannon -- know who that is? -- "metal is fu¢king dead." That saves Disturbed, since THEY'RE NOT METAL.

For the last time, review the album, not someone else's comments about the genre of the band. Leave it on comments of a persons review.

Ummm...those aren't lyrics genius. That's the signature "growl" heard on Down With the Sickness. Swing and a miss.
And cheesy lyrics? Everyone else (with an IQ worth talking about at least) says Disturbed's lyrics are very thought provoking. I sure hope this review is taken down. Doesn't even talk about the album.

Metal "purists" have this unbelievably annoying elitist mentality, like as though because they feel [Insert "pure" Metal band name] "has more skill" than [Insert non-"pure" Metal Band name here], they're more discerning listeners for having liked the former more than the latter.
This generation seems obsessed with being "right". It doesn't occur to them that in music, everyone's "right" because everyone's free to like what they like. Music, as all art, is ENTIRELY subjective.

This coming from someone who wrote a book that got a four-star review written by the author himself.

I am really getting sick of these "U1TR4!!1!1@@ D3tH M3!TAL!!!" fans that run around hating Disturbed just because they don't talk about gouging someone's eye out or severing limbs. If anything, you just run around screaming that Disturbed is lame (especially saying that they have "cheesy" lyrics) with no proof. "Inside the Fire" is about a girl comitting suicide and the devil tells the boyfriend that if he kills himself, he gets to spend time with his girlfriend. Yup, thats not thought provoking (neither is Indestructible, which seems to be about standing up for what you believe in.) Just quit complaining and admit that Disturbed is metal, you just don't like it (I hate Cannibal Corpse, I guess that means they are not METAL.) You are just as bad as those people supporting crappy rap artists without realizing who Public Enemy is. Just listen to the dang album and maybe next time write a review that sounds like you have actually listened to Disturbed instead of the 30 second clips on Itunes.

If the OP wrote a 1-star review and was HONEST (what a shocking word,) then I'd leave him alone. Also Buzz, you are the one who's blind (not because you hate Disturbed, but for gulping up anything anti-Disturbed and not thinking about what he's saying except that "Disturbed is not metal!") Infact, go listen to your "EXTr3M3 D3Ath M3tAL1" while we enjoy what is clearly metal. Sorry if the bald man isn't Pantera.
