Best of the Best,
This review is from: Nexus 7 from Google LTE Version (7-Inch, 32 GB, Black, LTE) by ASUS (2013) Tablet (Personal Computers)
Bought this item from Google Store so technically I'm only writing a review here because there isn't one of this product on Amazon.
So mine arrived back in October with T-Mobile sim card which I dont use. I wanted this device because I wanted to run Whatsapp on it hence I needed a SIM card tablet device and this one fit the bill perfectly. Plus I wanted a Google android, I knew KitKat was on its way, ASUS is a great brand and owning a Nexus is my dream.
The device is great. It runs smoothly, is very quick in performance. No lag time at all. There was no krap installed from before. I love the swype gesture and ofcourse KitKat 4.4 is already on my device since well over 2 weeks now.
The screen is amazing. The clarity, ufff! If the screen gets puggy i just wipe it off with my shirt and thats it! good as new! The back side can be cleaned off easily but since I purchase 2 rooCases (slimshell) along with this device, I dont really need to clean the back side.
This device also has a notification light which is uber awesome :)
If any of you folks need to know more, ask away. I may not be a verified amazon purchaser but i did buy the device from Google Store and love it to the very core.... hmm that actually rhymed ;)

Hi Sid, Sorry but I cant answer this question. I got my relative to get the device started in Washington to check for any problems but he didnt use the SIM card. When it came back to me in Pakistan(Asia) I used my own local SIM card for booting up Viber and Whatsapp. But if you still want to know, It will take me 20 mins max to test it out and reply back. The only problem is that the T-mobile Sim is not active and also has no balance/credit on it. So I'm afraid it work for this reason. But i have other SIM cards(vodafone/orange) which i can try.

Note that this user does not use the T-Mobile SIM that Google sells with the Nexus 7; and this is what I can't get working.

Okay, first off keep in mind I have a separate phone for calls/text. Its a separate piece altogether, Nexus 7 is only for my work purposes and little bit of socializing.
1- From the chrome browser in my Nexus 7 i went to this link: http://www.whatsapp.com/android/
2- I then downloaded the file and noted where it was downloading.
3- I installed it by running it
4- It asked for my number and I provided my number (the number works on my phone which I mentioned above)
5- It sent a verification code to my number (phone) and I then put it there in the app.
6- It gave me several warnings about what n what the app can do and access...
7- I ignored all that
8- I kept going to next step n the one after that.
9- When it was all done, it synced my contacts(from Google) to my whatsapp
10- It was a clean setup, no restarting, no rooting (i dont even know how to do it) was required.
11- I then sent a test msg to my sister and saw that everything was working fine...
Note: If the sim card is already in the Nexus 7 and you are planning to install the app on that number then make sure the sim is getting the signal of the carrier. Nexus 7 will automatically recognize the code when it comes through(step 4 and 5) and you will not have to wonder about punching in the code yourself.
Please also note that Kit Kat 4.4.2 does not support SMS feature. You can only receive text as a notification (which is good enough to install any app - fring, viber, whatsapp, go sms) but no app will send text message.
Please read: http://tech-vise.com/2014/03/27/solution-
for more info on Kit Kat bungle in the latest update.
Also note: I now use a different sim carrier in my Nexus 7 but my whatsapp continues to run on my official phone number. I did not face any problems at any stage.
