This review is from: New Balance Men's MW967 Country Walking Shoe (Apparel)
If you are expecting to get the same fit and quality of the 965 or possibly the 966, it's not in the 967. In addition to the absence of those factors, the laces have been shortened to where I was barely able to tie one small bow. If the shoe is designed and sold for walking, you should be able to tie a double knot to avoid having to stop and re-tye the laces often. My immediate solution was to remove the insoles which enabled me to tye a large enough knot to get home. I called NB Customer Service, and they did send a longer set of laces, plain brown and not as thick. In the interim, I bought and used a pair of boot laces. I have worn a NB shoe for years because the fit is snug, the way I like it for my slightly narrow feet. I've noticed that the last two pair of athletic shoes, 858 and 850, and the 967, that I've had seem to be slightly wider, as though the last has been changed. Also, a combination of fit and quality, the heel of the 967 is all padding and cloth, rather than leather and padding you had in the 965 and 966. Without the firm support of leather heel, my heel slips as I walk, and if you get in to much water, I am not sure the cloth heel is waterproof. Why did I keep the 967 - the rainy season, desperation, and the hope that they would we be OK when broken in.
