This review is from: RSVP International Rotary Food Mill. (Kitchen)I really was confused by all the great reviews for this product. It is a plastic piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more dollars on a more high-end model. I tried to made tomato sauce with this and had to keep pushing the tomatoes through the grates myself. It made a big mess and kept moving all over the place. The spinning piece that pushes the food through the grates scraped against the grate, as well, and tiny shards flaked off into my tomatoes. I would return this item, but I had it for a few months before I tried it. I will definitely try something more substantial for my next food mill.

Are you certain the blade was not inverted?

Unfortunately, this is what occurs with plastic bowls vs stainless steel...plastic is 'flexible' and will bend and curve as you are milling, causing pieces of plastic to flake off...avoid this by choosing a stainless steel food mill.

Are you sure you knew how to work this tool? Yesterday I spent over two hours processing 50 pounds of San Marzano tomatoes; and didn't have any of the problems you had.
Sounds like you had the disks upside down as I did not have any scraping problems or plastic shards in my food.
I went back and forth between paying double for the OXO and this RSVP. Choose the RSVP because of price. As the store salesman explained to me OXO copied their design and just made a some improvements, like stainless bowl and folding legs. Not worth the extra $30 to me.
