This review is from: Tower of Secrets: A Real Life Spy Thriller (Hardcover)
I usually find it hard to remain captivated long enough to read through an entire novel and frequently get bored of the book a third of the way through. This book is an exception. I couldn't put it down. Sheymov has written an excellent story and I learned some good lessons from some of the stories he tells.
My only complaint is with how the book ends - it feels like someone else wrote the ending. I get the feeling that the publisher might have forced a very patriotic American ending to the book to satisfy its target audience. There are no references in the book about the $1 million promised to the author by the CIA to defect, which would have occurred while he was still in Russia. Instead, the only reason he ever gives in his book is how bad communism is.
This is definitely an excellent read and well worth owning.
