Edward Lee, I want to meet you,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Smoke and Pickles: Recipes and Stories from a New Southern Kitchen (Hardcover)
Just received this book in my hands 30 mins ago from the big brown truck. I was pre-ordered and I can tell you I am going to LOVE this book. I love to "read" cookbooks and they are all the better when the author shares his story. Everyone has a story. Well Edward Lee claims everyone has a recipe. This book starts with a Rice and Remoulade intro.. Interesting. Photos are very important and this book doesn't short cut. My favorite pics so far are the overhead shots looking down on a table with all the hands working the forks and plates of food. Lots of love at this table.
Lots of inside notes that makes you see and gives you reminders of how to get the best results.
Can't wait to try:
Curry Pork Pies, Eggplant ricotta Newsoms Ham, quick sauteed squid and bacon salad, Lime beef salad and chilled buttermilk maple soup with bourbon soaked cherries.
LIke I said, I have only had this cookbook in my hands for now 45 mins. So I will update for sure. But if your even debating.. Get this book. YUM

He's an awesome chef and an awesome teacher. He offered a class for Thanksgiving side dishes and I took it with a friend. It was enjoyable and he was patient with us as we learned about the recipes and techniques. I've made a few of the recipes since then and they've been a huge hit. I can't wait to try these!
