It was hard to finish,
This review is from: Deadline (Paperback)
I got this book because it sounded interresting. The reviews were good as well, so I figured the book must be good.
The book was VERY slow for about the first 200 pages (theres only about 320 pages). I felt that it was too wordy and talked WAY too much about football. Granted, I know part of it was about how Ben joined football but too much of the book was spent on the first half of the school year. When he began to get too sick to do much, the book barely touched on any of that. Also his discussions/arguments with his teacher got really old after a while. It got to the point where I was simply skimming through pages to finish the book.
I also didn't like how Dallas was molested by a relative and then Rudy happened to be a child molester as well. Or how Sooner suddenly died the night Ben made the annoucement that he was dying.
It was an ok book, but I don't see myself reading it again.
