1.0 out of 5 stars Shot Gun Approach..., April 7, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Christian Delusion: Why Faith Fails (Paperback)
Loftus deals with over 35 arguments in less than four hundred pages and wants you to think he has fairly dealt with them.

Moreover, many of the "experts" who contribute the various chapters are not even academically qualified in the areas they discuss, such as Long.

Not much here that is not in his previous books, except now he uses a Perjorative term in the very title itself.

Rationalist says:
A WORD TO THE WISE ABOUT "KC JAMES/A THEIST" - don't feed him/her.

KC James, "A Theist" and "Anna" on some freethinking book reviews seem to be a tag team (can be confirmed by looking through Hector Avalos book reviews ("Slavery, Abolitionism, and the Ethics of Biblical Scholarship (Bible in the Modern World") and if I recall correctly, John Loftus and maybe even Dan Barker's books.

Anna/A Theist always show up with KC James as some sort of a tag team. Occasionally, D. Christensen comes in. If I recall, she/he has some other Amazon names, don't remember them now. Never fails. Often times the posts appear within minutes of each other indicating either high degree of cooperation between the two people or same person logging into the thread and posting under another profile.

Also, if you analize ratings to responses to "Anna/A Theist/KC James" reviews - you will be able to establish with a high degree of probability that they are always 2-3 short of "positive" ratings when it comes to their own posts, which may indicate she/he logs into Amazon under different profiles and rates his/her own posts to increase the ranking and offset the negative ranking by others. This discrepancy can be explained by the number of Amazon accounts she/he has.

Someone did a linguistic analysis of the responses - they were remarkably identical with some minute variations - looks like cut and paste. http://www.amazon.com/review/R3I48K43LGQ778/ref=cm_aya_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=1616144130#wasThisHelpful

A WORD TO THE WISE ABOUT "A THEIST/ANNA/ KC JAMES" - don't feed him/her.

These profiles (Real Names verified by Amazon and clearly identified by Amazon with a badge "Real Name") seem to also have popped up in the past in discussions regarding freethinking books with identical/similar writings by reviewers.

EDIT......... Immediately after pointing these facts out, the amazon page with linguistic analysis has been deleted (assumably by one of the tag team), yet I have saved it and have it in my possession in digital form. Hector Avalos review by KC James is also gone.

EDIT 2.... A Theist's posts about downgrading from the then current (3 stars rating) are also saved. He downgraded it to 1 star and then deleted the thread.
