This review is from: Samsung Series 7 Gamer NP700G7C-T01US 17.3-Inch Laptop (Yellow) (Personal Computers)
A few months ago I was comparing the original S7 Gamer to Asus' G75VW-733D and went with the ASUS because of the mostly better feature set. Loved it then one day I happened upon the S7 Gamer (Yellow) and I thought, aha! a new color! Is it just a new pretty face? Or is it better underneath? Well how else was I going to REALLY find out but throw some money @ Samsung and take one home, right? The yellow model is tweaked with a faster Ivy Bridge Intel i7 CPU and better AMD Radeon graphics. It has half the memory (8GB) and two thirds the hard drive space (1TB) of the original S7 Gamer but it still screams. It's supposed to be 3D enabled as well but I haven't confirmed that. I mostly play games installed with the Steam service and I love the way the games play on this machine. Seems to handle any game thrown at it with ease. I love the different energy saving and performance modes you can switch through too. Right now, I can't move myself to get rid of my ASUS so I have two options when it comes to serious mobile gaming. I'll admit I'm not using the 3D option on the ASUS and the S7 Gamer Yellow just seems more 'fun' to use. One thing to note: When I first got the S7 Gamer Yellow through Amazon, it had to be replaced due to not finishing the initial Windows 8 install and locking up. I sent the expensive paperweight back to Amazon who had a new unit parallel shipped to me. The shipping process started the same day I registered the complaint. The replacement arrived a few days later and this is the unit I'm having serious fun with. I appreciate the way Amazon resolved the issue. The S7 Gamer in either Black or Yellow looks to be a serious player in any mobile gaming arena.

Do you have problem restarting the laptop and using the browser?

I haven't experienced any browser issues as yet. Restarts are fine. It's a partially hidden feature. See, the laptop is running the new Windows 8 OS so the initial challenge will be the learning curve if you're not comfortable navigating the new OS. Everything looks and is placed differently unless you're using the desktop app that gives you a familiar look and feel to Windows 7.

What exactly is happening with restart and the browser? Can you detail the issue? I'm doing fine with my setup.

I just noticed your review. I'm not sure why you're having issues restarting but as for the browser I would take in consideration you are using Windows 8. So try IE browser for awhile and see if you have a better experience.

Ya currently I am using the IE and just wait 10 seconds of freezing while opening every web page. I think you told me the right thing that I should call Samsung first to see if the issues can be solved. Appreciate that man! I will let you know if that work for me. Thanks!

Called and nothing helps. That tech tell me to restore to factory setting. I told him the problems was here while it came right out of the box. Then he just informed me to send the laptop to service center and get it fix. Well I am returning that for a new one.

Sorry to hear the issue wasn't resolved. Definitely call Amazon and have a new one shipped to you.

Hi, from the specs I was not 100% sure. Could you help resolve my issues? Is the entire keyboard backlit? And is it 3D capable or not? Thank you!

Hi. The entire keyboard gets backlit when you change to modes like Gaming. The keyboard stays unlit in the battery saving modes like Green and Library. As far as 3D it's supposed to be 3D capable but I haven't confirmed that feature. Unlike say, the ASUS 3D models, the S7 Gamer doesn't come with a 3D kit with glasses. Sorry...specs say 3D but I can't confirm 3D right now.
