JUST What I Was Hoping For ... Until ...,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Medium Pocketknife Clip Pouch, Leather, Black (Misc.)
While we always see an occasional negative review on most products, it proves that we can all get a "lemon" once in a while. My sheath was perfect and exactly what I was hoping for. While I certainly have a few Victorinox SAKs that fit nicely in this sheath, I actually bought it for any number of traditional 3 to 3.5 inch folders. For better or worse (probably worse!), I collect vintage knives, including slipjoint pocket knives, and I'll carry a different knife and any given day, simply because I love so many of them. I personally prefer to have the knife I carry in a belt sheath instead of having it bulging in my pant pocket.
That brings me to this product: Quality ... appears excellent. Look ... stylish. Expandable sides ... awesome and make for a snug fit on all but the skinniest knives. Snap closure ... strong and secure. Belt clip ... FABULOUS ... nice and tight and allows you to attach to the belt without having to take off the belt to thread the sheath. (I wear my knife on the left hip.) Be aware belts wider than one and a half inches will not fit properly beneath the belt clip.
Once I really began carrying this sheath daily, it didn't take long to start falling apart. Some stitching is unraveling and the metal clip has torn through the covering. All of this happened after about two or three months of EDC. I've changed my review from 5 to 3 stars because of this durability flaw. HOWEVER, the metal clip is tight and strong as heck, which makes it a good choice for neck carry. Run a lanyard under the clip and you're in business. At this price, I would buy it again, but only for neck carry. It won't hold up to the rigors of being on the hip.
