Good info, but so redundant and basic.,
This review is from: Is Rome the True Church?: A Consideration of the Roman Catholic Claim (Paperback)
I read this book in one sitting, and it was essentially a thirty page book repeated over and ever. Everything Dr. Geisler says is absolutely correct, but he often repeats himself verbatim. There is no new information presented after the first 30 pages or so and the repetition starts to seem mean spirited. The house of cards that is Catholic Theology is easy to topple, and Geisler does so, but rather than expand his basic arguments he just beats the dead horse of the primacy of peter and papal infallibility again and again.

This review would be comic if it were not so sad. Yeah, right....in the review's dreams.

I actually think it is a good review.
I disagree with John's assumptions that the "house of cards" that is Catholic theology is "easy to topple." (I think that is a profoundly uncharitable sentence, and self-evidently incorrect, as some pretty smart people have found Catholic claims very compelling).
However, the reviewer is on the mark when he talks about the basic and redundant nature of this book. I think a lot of us (on both sides of the Tiber, with our attendant biases and prejudices) had higher expectations of Geissler.

I still think this is a good review, but I am still concerned about the reviewers claim about the house of cards being easy to topple. Why are some evangelicals so prideful, when the intellectual underpinnings of their tradition is so weak?
What does the reviewer make of the fact that this book is already out of print, and the co-author of it has entered the Catholic Church?
