The down under experiment,

We wanted the best but did we really get the best?
Being a fan for 25 years now a new Alive album should keep the level and tradition of the Alive standard. So I had great expectations when KISS released their experiment with the Melbourne S. Orchestra. It was really clever to start doing a normal show then raise tension by first playing melodic songs and after that destroy Melbourne by their powerful sound plus the orchestra. Act1: Opening with Deuce and Strutter was really lame. It is like: we can't make a mistake doing that. Except of Psycho Circus there is nothing new.Why not play powerful and great stuff that has never been released on an Alive album before like Larger than life, Take me, Mr. Speed, Rockin' in the USA or even solo songs like Radioactive? I think the fans would have loved it!
Performing Beth sounds absolutely great but again why not "new" songs like I can't stand the rain which would have been more than a substitute. From Going blind on the album starts to get interesting and really good, I love the Sure know something version. Choosing mainly the most powerful songs of Kisstory from Destroyer together with the orchestra for Act 3 was a good choice and very well done, it rocks absolutely. Tommy does a great job interpreting Ace's solos in Ace's style although it hurts that the original isn't on the record.
So in the end Act 2 and 3 keep the high Alive standard and compensate the lame start. Go and get it!
