Nikon cut corners on this one,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nikon Coolpix P7000 Horizontal Leather Case (Camera)
After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical about purchasing the case but went ahead anyway since...well it was a Nikon case so I had certain expectations regarding quality. So, I'll just get to the gist of my gripes: (1) This is NOT a leather case. There's no mention of that word on the Nikon packaging, it doesn't even remotely smell like leather, it feels rubbery, and the grain is all uniform...all clear indicators that it is in fact synthetic. I don't know how Amazon is getting away with calling this a "leather" case. (2) Although the camera does fit snuggly in the case, the magnetic clasp just doesn't feel strong enough [IMHO] to prevent the camera from flying out.
If I would've inspected the case beforehand I don't think I would've purchased it. That being said, I'm going to keep it until I find a better one.

Call me a fool, but it looks and feels exactly like leather.

As I mentioned in the review, all evidence points to the fact that it's NOT leather. Just because a claim is made about a product on a consumer website eg. Amazon, doesn't mean it's true; besides, any product would've clearly made that claim on the packaging if it was.
