Unfortunate cost on a decent product from a good company,
This review is from: Synology IP Camera License Pack for 1 (CLP1) (Electronics)
I used the trial to see if this was superior to other products. I really like it, extremely easy to use. Unfortunately, it is not a cost effective solution for me. Here's why. I have 7 cameras. 7 * 65 = $455. Instead, I used an old mini desktop and bought 8 licenses from Xeoma for $119. Total savings = $336. I still use my synology NAS for storage (which is what I bought it for originally) and I plan on trying their directory and dns service. The hardware is amazing. The insanely pricey camera licensing? No thanks.

Thanks for pointing out Xeoma. That's exactly what I was looking for. Too bad Diskstation doesn't get the idea that they're losing business with an overpriced business model.

Yes, its does seem a little overpriced. Says it all that Axis (upper high end pro used in Casinos, Airports, etc...) is actually the SAME price per additional camera! I would have hoped for at least 2 free licences after my outlay, and for home use.
