Move over, Hunger Games,
This review is from: Ashfall (Hardcover)
It's YA but so what? So are most of the better books I've read in recent years. I could not stop reading this and finished it in less than a day. First in a series and a perfect cup of tea for fans of THE ROAD, TOMORROW WHEN THE WAR BEGAN, John Christopher and other post-apocalyptic/post-disaster survival books. While it's not a book of pretty, literary sentences, the writing is amazing for a first novel (YA or otherwise). There is not an amateurish phrase or awkward word choice in 450+ pages to bump you out of the story. The sequel is due out October 16 so you might want to wait until October 15 to read this so you won't face an agonizing five month wait like I do.
BTW, if you're still single, it pays to find a librarian spouse to pick out these gems for you.

Here's a tip: Ask your librarian spouse to request the sequel through NetGalley.com--my publisher, Tanglewood Press, has been very generous with advance reading copies for librarians.
