4.0 out of 5 stars Great case for the price!, March 31, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: CaseCrown Bold Standby Case (Black) for iPad 4th Generation with Retina Display, iPad 3 & iPad 2 (Built-in magnet for sleep / wake feature) (Electronics)
It's not fancy nor expensive, but it's exactly what I wanted.

It protects my iPad 2 wonderfully, and it's a great fit. Both cameras, all controls, headphone jack and speaker are accounted for in the design, and I don't think I'll ever have to take it out of this well-designed case.

If you're like me and would rather buy a sensible case without paying the premium for an Apple logo, this is a good choice.

N. Wang says:
It doesn't wake the ipad?
But the item description says "Magnetic strip built inside for secure closure, and (instantly wakes up iPad 2 when opened, and makes it go to sleep once you close)."
Do you mind checking this function again? Thanks!

D. Sanders says:
I didn't read the description carefully enough I guess. It does have a magnetic strip that keeps it closed, but the ipad doesn't seem to sleep or wake when the case is opened/closed.

I recently got this case. It DOES put my iPad 2 to sleep when closed and awakens when opened. Maybe check the settings on your iPad

I contacted the manufacturer, and apparently I received as "early design" and the sleep function didn't work. The seller is sending a new one to me now.

UPDATE: The new case arrived and now auto-sleep/wake DOES work. I am happy.

SpaceGhost says:
When you open it and fold it back and lay flat, does the iPad also go to sleep?
Some cases have this problem where the case puts it to sleep not only when closed but also when fully open and folded back.
I'd appreciate it if you could test that and post the results. Thanks.

No, mine doesn't have that issue.

this case doesn't seem to fit my iPad2. I will be sending it back for a refund.
