Watch out for digestive tract reaction,
This review is from: Biotivia - Transmax Resveratrol, 500 mg, 60 veggie capsules (Health and Beauty)
I bought a 30 day supply and used it for about 2 weeks before noticing bowel movement problems. I've cut back on using it but still have several to use so I've tried taking them again but I get such painful bowel cramps I'm tossing out what's left. I've used lower dose pills made but another company without problems.

The upset you claim to have experienced was not due to Transmax. There have been absolutely no reports of this reaction in the multiple human clinical trials in which this product was used. Some of these trials involved over 150 subjects and none of the subjects reported this effect. You might want to think about what else could have caused the tummy upset. Transmax is the purest Resveratrol available, which is why it is used in these medical school trials. It is also the only one that is protected from oxidation and UV exposure by patented Active Packaging Technology.

What attracted me to this particular Resveratrol supplier is that they are the one that have supplied almost every human clinical trial with the Resveratrol used by the medical schools studying the effects of Resveratrol on Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, brain health, cholesterol, fitness and some forms of cancer and leukaemia. In all of the published studies so far the effects have been extremely impressive. In terms of Diabetes, the two large human studies released just about three weeks ago showed reductions in blood sugar, blood pressure, body weight, and LDL/Triglyceride cholesterol. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in vitro study published two weeks ago confirmed these effects and also noted that Transmax was an effective anti-inflammatory agent as well. Biotivia was the original manufacturer which supplied research hospitals and scientists only until about 2007. Since then it has made its Resveratrol available to the general public. You will spend a bit more but you know that you are getting a vastly superior product and not a dodgy wannabe.

Sue, do you happen to have a link about what you are saying. I'd be interested in seeing if this company indeed supplied the reservatol. I just like to do my homework before buying a product. Thanks.

Keep it Simple says:
Just because 150 humans did not experience a specific side effect in one trial or multiple trials does not rule out that side effect for other humans. A trial is a trial not one of the Ten Commandments. Thank God we can run them. A trial is fraught with variables. "The upset you claim to have experienced was not due to Transmax." That's pretty categorical. How much history (since you are an NP and we are talking nursing diagnosis) do you have on this human to make that kind of statement? If I were to go to my NP with complaint of a stomach upset she would not jump to conclusions as to what might be the cause.

I take one of these each morning with 1000 C and a little flax oil. It always gets me "going". So is this a side effect? I think not. You could blame this on the C or the flax but my point is that this may have pointed out to you that there are other things going on that could be addressed. If it stimulates you and this hurts then look at your digestive track. For instance, wheat tends to slow everything down for me so I don't have it every day. I found this out by this kind of "side effect". Transmax has the most concentrated amount of the most active ingredient. That is 500 mg total of that ingredient.
In short and hopefully to clarify, this is the concentrated type, this is why it costs more, and you could be sensitive to it in this amount:500 mg of this ingredient. Others have more of the whole plant rather than just this concentrated ingredient. It can say 500 mg but since it is the whole plant the more active ingredient is less. Hope this helps.
