Funniest show on ABC... wonder how quickly it will get canceled.,
This review is from: Modern Family: Season 1 (DVD)
Truly one of the funniest shows on TV right now. This "mockumentary" comedy series was created by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan, people behind Frasier and Just Shoot me and is just as funny as these two. Multinational, multisexual and exceedingly complicated (extended) family and their hilarious antics filmed by the Dutch TV crew.
Jay Pritchett (Ed O'Neill - he is back!!!) is the track-suit wearing oldest member of the family who is married to a Columbian goddess Gloria (Sofía Vergara), who brings her son Manny into the family.
Jay's Daughter Claire (Julie Bowen) a neurotic mother is married to Phil (Ty Burrell), a very awkward, know-it-all dad (he is not) and their 3 kids.
Jay's gay son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and his partner Cameron (Eric Stonestreet), who just adopted a Vietnamese baby.
Show consists of great characters, excellent cast and expertly written scripts. This show is funniest on any network. Start with the pilot, you will love it.

I agree that this is the best family fun show in years. By the way, it's Colombian.

I just went on to recommend this show and noticed the date of your review - I just wanted to say cheers for recognizing what a treasure this show was so early on in the season. I agree that it's brilliant - the cast is amazing! I'm glad Eric Stonestreet was recognized with an Emmy but any member of the adult cast is Emmy-worthy as is Rico Rodriguez (I really hope Ed O'Neill gets recognized by the Academy next year and I'm hoping the Hollywood Foreign Press just nominates every male member of this cast for the supporting category for the Golden Globes). Continue to enjoy - I know I will!

The TV ratings are high, very high. This show isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The 18-49 demographics average 4.7 mil which is a spectacular number that advertisers love to see.

Once I think something written in an Amazon review or comment area won't surprise me anymore, here comes J. Steiner with this beauty. Well done, J. Steiner. You're not going to watch a show that you enjoy anymore because of who created it. That makes sense.

Where I am puzzled is why read what anyone else has to say about the show, if you've already decided for yourself that you enjoy it. Still, too bad you decided not to watch it, because it really is one of the funnies shows I have ever seen.

David I think this show will stick around for at very least a little while. If Oprah has your cast on her show, that's always a plus. Enjoy :)
