5.0 out of 5 stars NetFlix problem resolved!, August 16, 2012
This review is from: Panasonic SC-BTT190 Energy Star 5.1-Channel 1000-Watt Full HD 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System (2013 Model) (Electronics)
I recently received this really nice Panasonic BluRay player & spent an hour or two fiddling with the settings and configuring various things like my iPod...

Once I received and installed the WiFi device and connected with my home networking, all became virtually perfect -- a firmware update ran smoothly, news channels, weather configured for my local area, and great access to websites like my music at Pandora, my movies at NetFlix along with a set of spiffy videos at YouTube!

I then went on to find a few days later that I had an apparently unresolvable streaming issue with NetFlix, which would intermittently hang during playback. Resolving the hang required a hard reset (power button for 10 seconds) of the player to restore the WiFi network, but the hang would happen again (and again) when I was streaming a movie -- unbelievably irritating!

Some web research on this issue brought my focus to the source... NetFlix is over-pushing the stream! I was then able reset this setting at my NetFlix account (use the 0.3 setting) and it hasn't hung since!

Am still happy with the box ;)

I have this same system. I love it but when I use Netflix, it is not synched correctly and also hangs up. When you say "0.3 setting", do you mean you changed the setting in your account on Netflix to the lowest setting for bandwidth? Such as, Good quality (up to 0.3 GB per hour)? I was wondering if that is what you changed. Thank you in advance!

Yep... found this early on & tweaked the setting at the NetFlix site -- been fine since then!

Don,

It worked, thank you! I had watched a movie out of sync and it was also hanging up. I would have to unplug the power to get the system to work again. As soon as I changed my Netflix settings to 0.3GB, I have not had any issues! I even went back to see the movie that was out of sync, and it was working! Thank you for the wonderful suggestion! I was ready to cancel Netflix because it would not stay connected and the it was off with the audio. I thank you again and hope you have a wonderful remainder of your weekend.

Good 2 hear!

I have four viewing interfaces around my house -- our new main TV is a Samsung SmartTV which accesses NetFlix (and others) very smoothly thru our WiFi using the 5gb link, and my XBOX (WiFi, 2.5gb, family room downstairs) has an app that's always good... my Panasonic BluRay (this thread. also on 2.5 WiFi, also in the main TV area) does get out of sync with speech... My house server (down the hall in the office) has a 32" Sony Bravia, and I connect this thru Chrome (on a wired link to my cable modem) with no problems... fun and games!

Regards, Don
