Gets the job done quickly!,
This review is from: Portable Transfer Pump (Misc.)
I have a 400-gallon cistern to collect rainwater for watering my veggie garden. The problem is that Houston's been experiencing two summers now of drought-like conditions, so I use up those 400 gallons pretty quickly. I also have two 75-gallon rain barrels on the other side of the yard. So when the water level in the cistern gets low, I transfer the water from the rain barrels to the cistern. This pump is perfect for that task! In under 20 minutes (including set-up time) I move 150 gals. of water that would have taken me hours.
The four stars (instead of five) is for two reasons: 1.) There's no on/off switch. You turn it off by unplugging it from the extension cord or outlet. 2.) The inlet and outlet aren't marked, so unless you RTFM every time (or you have a good memory), it's easy to get the two confused. I remedied that by using a china marker (grease pencil) to draw arrows indicating the direction of the water flow.
If you do purchase one of these pumps (I bought mine at Lowe's), make sure you invest in no-kink garden hoses for transferring - you'll save yourself much frustration! You also need an extension cord (NOT the common orange ones) that will handle the high amps or you'll be blowing fuses.
All-in-all, I heartily recommend this pump to everyone who needs to transfer water or wants to boost water pressure for sprinkling or washing cars, etc.
