Not exactly praiseworthy in content,
This review is from: Playmates My Life Handheld Portable Console (Toy)
I couldn't wait to review this toy because I've never had such an opinion on a purchase before. Santa brought this to my 8 year old and she has loved it. It goes everywhere with her and provides lots of entertainment. BUT......I just can't wait for it to break or get lost because the content of it is so disappointing. The characters speak rudely, there is too much focus on appearance (including very skimpy clothing) and especially on dating and breaking up. My daughter doesn't understand why the game's mom and dad are mad all the time, why she is grounded, and why there is so much breaking up and going out. It is a toy marketed for her age, but definitely much more grown up in content, and not the kind of teen I want her to grow up to be! So, if you are just looking for a fun toy and don't care about emphasizing morals or values, then this is the toy for you!

I'm so glad that you gave an honest review of this. I have been looking at it since last year and was just about to purchase it, when I read your review. My 11 yr old is not taught w/ this sort of content in her life and after reading the review herself, she said that she's not interested.

Thank you for this review! This is exactly the kind of feedback we need to see on toys like this. We don't do a lot of "media" in our house anyway, and the media we choose to bring in needs to be relatively wholesome and positive, so we'll be skipping this one. Thanks SO MUCH!

I too was considering purchasing this for my 10 year old. Not now. I wish there was a similar toy a available that promoted decent morals & encouraged respectful behavior.

Thanks so much for saving me the money! What a shame...my 8 year old would love a device like this but not with that kind of content. I hope they read these reviews and revise it and release a more age appropriate item.

It brilliant to get an experienced review, thank you so much, was SOOOOOO close to buying online as it was £14. No wonder its gotten so cheap, my daughter 10 has wanted it for quite a while but was too dear for me. No wonder its come down so much in price. Pity the advertising is so good on these things and kids are suckered in. These companies have no shame do they?
