This review is from: Crobots: 20 Amigurumi Robots to Make (Paperback)
These crocheted "robots" are very clever and not difficult to make. The projects range from "beginner" crocheter to intermediate. If you have never crocheted, the drawings of where to put your hook and thread are basic and very clear. I recommend starting with one of the easy items, but using 3 or 4 ply yarn and a larger hook than the instructions call for to make your first crobot, so that it is easy to see exactly how the corners are turned. Once you've made the first one, more complex crobots are just a matter of making more pieces and sewing them together. With adult help to get started, I think a child as young as 10 could make these. Also it would be easy to design your own crobot once you have the basics down of making spheres and cubes. The "bots" are stuffed with fiber fill found in any sewing or craft store and embellished with felt, sequins, beads--even screws--for eyes, antennae, ears, and control panels. Substituting felt or embroidery would make them safe as toys for young children. Use your imagination, and have a lot of fun making these quick projects.
