Big surprise for a Logitech speaker sys,
This review is from: Logitech Speaker System Z523 with Subwoofer (Personal Computers)
This purchase was a replacement on a 13 year old JBL 2.1 speaker system for our PC in the living room. I was quite skeptical on Logitech's speaker system until I listened to its sound. I'm currently owning a set of JBL Creature 2.1 in my bedroom. Logitech's got more powerful bass and mid tones. I don't understand why they won't add a treble knob like those JBL models, though I'm satisfied with it now. The Z523 delivers a nice crisp sound, after a bit adjustment on the EQ and the bass knob on your right speaker. It sounds balance without overwhelmed bass. However, just to let you all know; The bass knob can affect some treble tone for some reason. You would know what i mean if you listen to 'drum and bass' and 'metal'. You'd really have to adjust the bass knob from genre to genre :)
The subwoofer is much lighter than i thought. You really need to pay extra attention of what's under your sub or how you hold your sub when installing it. Why do i mention this? There's a unguarded/uncovered bass drum at the bottom of it. I'm sure you know what the drum is made out of :P Good luck on not poking/sticking another through it. I wish there's some kind of metal or even plastic grill covering it.
I love the fact that the satellite speakers are so compact. It's perfect for a narrow computer desk. The design of their satellite speakers are quite unique. It's like nothing i've ever seen before!! There're speakers on the back of them. Now i understood the reason behind their advertisement (360º sweet spot). I don't know what are the odds of me going behind the speakers though :X unless you're placing them at the center of your room. It might contribute to more depth of the sound resonation against the wall or something but that's about what i know for now.
